Valentine Throw Pillow

Not too long ago, I was contacted by another DARLING blogger
to participate in a segment today on Studio 5 in Utah.
Wait a second, I know what you are thinking…
Utah? Aren’t you in Arizona?
Yes, I am in Arizona, and I will be participating in this Segment Via Skype
{isn’t technology AMAZING?}
The challenge for this, was to take the Ikea Ofelia Blanket and
refashion it into something else for under $10.
Well, Since I am in FULL Valentine Decoration mode over here,
I decided to create a fun Decoration for my Family room.
Living in a House full of Boys, it’s hard for me to get away with decorating
with anything that is too ruffly or girly.
But NOW, I had an excuse,  a GOOD excuse!
Here is what I used to create my pillow:
Most of this stuff I had in my craft stash!
I started by cutting the Ofelia Blanket into a pillow cover by doubling the size of my pillow,
And sewing up 3 sides to create a pocket for my pillow.
{Because this fabric is stretchy, I had to cut it a little smaller to make sure that it fit nice and snug}
I then inserted my pillow form into the open side and simply stitched it shut.
The beauty of this fabric, is that it has so many bumps and ripples, you can’t even see where my seam it!
Next, to create my ruffly heart,  I took my Red Felt and cut out about 100
2″ circles
Note: for this project your circles DO NOT need to be perfect.
I free handed all of mine, and as you can see they are far from it!
Once they are all cut, you are going to take them one by one and fold them into quarters
This is what it will look like:
{You should have a pointed end in your hand}
Next using a needle and thread stitch the pointed end onto your pillow.
Continue stitching all of them on creating a heart shape, and then filling it in.
Again, I just eye-balled this.
The ruffles can be fluffed and moved once you stitch them on making it easy to shape your heart.
Since ALL of the supplies that I used for this, I had on hand, my total out of pocket cost was
And I have to say I am LOVING the texture that this little pillow adds to my family room!
If you loved this cute pillow, you are going to love to see what some
of my fellow bloggers that participated in this challenge came up with too!

Make sure to come back tomorrow, because I will be sharing the rest of my
Valentine Decor, and You DON’T want to miss it!!!
