Framed Chalkboard

Today,
As I continue to clean and box up my house,
{did I tell you we are moving in 2 1/2 weeks?}
I thought I would show you another piece from my kitchen makeover.
The Chalkboard
A lot of you have asked where I got the frame for the Chalkboard that
adorns my pantry door.
Yes, it DOES look a lot like the UNG DRILL Frame from Ikea,
But mine actually came from Goodwill.
For those of you who have been reading here for a while might remember when I first got it,
It looked like this:
After giving it a good cleaning,
I removed the mirror from it and spray painted the frame Krylon Cherry Red.
{my favorite color}
For a while, it hung in my bedroom over my dresser.
But during the process of my kitchen makeover, I came to realize it was the
perfect size to hang on my narrow pantry door.
So, once again, I removed the mirror, and painted the backside of the mirror
{yes, the back, just in case I wanted to use it as a mirror again}
 with Rustoleum’s Chalkboard Paint.
I made sure to use a high density foam roller to get an extra smooth finish,
and after letting it dry.
I put it back in the frame and mounted it to my door.
I love having a chalkboard in my kitchen.
It makes for a perfect place to jot down items that I am running low on.
And it made for the Perfect Prop for our family pictures this past Christmas.
Here is where I am linking up this week:

  1. CUTE! CUTE!! I need one of those in my house!! Let’s go Goodwilling sometime together, K? XOXO!!

  2. Grrrr!! I keep checking the frames and paintings at our Goodwill but now that I’m looking for them – no one is getting rid of those big old frames. I have the same problem with owls. Used to everytime I walked into a Goodwill there would be an abundance of 1970’s owls. Now you can’t find them anywhere. Why didn’t I buy them up when I could??
