The Making of a Super Hero

I finally finished Nixon’s Halloween Costume!
After checking out costumes at some of the local Costume Stores
I decided there was NO WAY, I was going to let Nixon wear an over-priced
Cheaply made costume for Halloween.
After a few trips to Goodwill
Spending some quality time with my sewing machine.
I produced the Cutest little Superman Costume that
Nixon wants to wear  All Day & All Night.
As you can see He takes the job of being Superman VERY Seriously!
He is TRULY his Daddy’s Boy!
He & Dave have spent the last few weeks getting acquainted with the
Original Superman Movies
Dave watched these ALL THE TIME as a kid
{yes, the ones with the handsome Christopher Reeve}
And Now, Nixon has fallen in love with them,
 has even started acting out some of his favorite scenes!
I had SO MUCH fun putting this together.
Here is how I started:
The blue long sleeve compression shirt came from Target $6 on Clearance
The Red Undies came in a package of Fruit of the Looms
The yellow belt I scored at Goodwill for .50 CENTS
{I might have squealed in delight when I found it}
And those blue long things are a pair of Men’s Soccer Socks I paid $1.50 for at Goodwill
{I couldn’t find royal blue tights ANYWHERE}
So I took the blue socks cut the feet out of them and sewed them into the legs of his
Red Undies!
Lastly I found a pair of Galoshes at Goodwill, However the weren’t exactly
Superman appropriate when I found them
but for $2.50 I couldn’t pass them up.
SO after few coats of Cherry Red Spray Paint
They were PERFECT!
Lastly, Using some Red Felt and Yellow Fabric
I sewed a Superman Cape  & 2 Superman Logos
One for his chest & One for the Cape
And Now I have ONE Happy Little Boy!
Who Can’t WAIT to debut his Costume on Halloween!

    Adorable! Sure beats my dancing skirts that Dave used to wear as capes as a boy. Ahh the memories of Superman with my little brother. He made me play the part of Lois Lane day after day and scolded me if I got the lines wrong!

  4. What a cutie…love the red undies!

  5. Oh my gosh! What a cutie!! The underwear are just the best!

  6. I think you definitely should win an award for creativity and ingenuity on this one. Fabulous!

  7. Priceless!! His face says it all. I love your creativity, it turned out so much nicer than those cheap store costumes. My university aged daughter wanted to be Princess Peach from the Super Mario game, and the costume at the store was $69! Well, we piecemealed it like you and I think the whole thing came out to less than $18. Plus I say what’s the fun in buying an already made store costume?

    On a side note, I think that Christopher Reeves made the best, most handsome Superman…

  8. Hey DavesWife! Just stopping by to let you know that I featured your post in a weekly roundup today. Have a super weekend 🙂
